Some Tummy Ache Tips just for YOU.
Hang this on your wall, or gift it to a friend, for some love and solidarity when feeling anxious.
1: Deep Breathing - Breathe in through the nose for 7 seconds, and out through the mouth for 11 seconds. Or if you canโt manage that, in for 5 seconds and out for 7 seconds. Doing this for a few minutes (or as long as you can manage) will slow your heart rate to a calmer place ๐
2: Talk to someone - Things often feel much worse when theyโre roaming free in your head, expressing your anxious thoughts to someone you trust, be that friend, family, or professional, can help a lot. There are lots of therapy recourses online, such as @betterhelp ๐
3: Tea - Camomile and ginger tea are good for calming the stomach and can have relaxing impacts on the mind and body ๐
4: Write it Down: Writing down how you are feeling can allow you to leave fears on the page. Itโs easier to gain perspective on things when you can see them written down. I know this can be scary, but you donโt have to read it back - write down your fears and leave them in a draw ๐
5: Rescue Remedy - Or any other anxiety reducing herbal remedy can be beneficial. Put a few drops in your water bottle if you need a little bit of extra support on the go ๐
6: Yoga/ Meditate - Emptying your mind of anxious thoughts through meditation takes a lot of practice. If you are feeling up to it, try practicing with a guided video or recording for as long as you can. Alternatively, do some yoga or stretching, focussing on a new physical task helps take us out of our minds for a while ๐
7: Watch something familiar - Watching a TV show or movie we have seen before can calm the mind and create a feeling of safety. ๐
8: Play a game - Repetitive phone games like candy crush and sudoku require enough concentration to partially distract the mind. This paired with the repetitive, calming motion of switching candies, and maybe a familiar TV show, can be a great way to calm anxious thoughts ๐
*These are only tips! if your anxiety is feeling unmanageable, remember you are not alone, and the best place to seek help would be a professional therapist or doctor.
